Marrone Bio InnovationsThe California Department of Pesticide Regulation has registered Venerate biological insecticide from Davis, Calif.-based Marrone Bio Innovations for use on a wide array of fruits and vegetables.

The broad-spectrum product carries a four-hour re-entry interval, zero-day pre-harvest interval and is exempt from maximum residue level—or MRL—tolerances, according to a news release.

It contains the active ingredient heat-killed Burkholderia spp. strain A396 cells and spent fermentation media, according to the product label. It works by degrading the insect's exoskeleton and molting interference.

The product is National Organic Program compliant.
