Syngenta upgrades Pasco, Wash., vegetable seed facility

Syngenta logoSyngenta has invested more than $3 million to improve its Pasco, Wash., vegetable seed processing facility, including expanding the seed quality testing lab and adding an in-house seed treatment facility.

The upgrades will be completed for the 2014 season, according to a news release.

The new lab will improve turn time and accuracy for vegetable seed testing.

Investment in application equipment will enable Syngenta to expand the use of its FarMore Technology platform on different vegetable seed varieties.

The platform involves several registered insecticide and fungicide seed treatments and proprietary application technology.

The 40-acre Pasco facility includes advanced sweet corn dryers and a conditioning warehouse.

It also is good seed and plant practices accredited, which involves strict hygiene and safety protocols to reduce the risk of Clavibacter michiganesis infection in tomato seeds.
