Vicky BoydColorado potato beetles have a long history of developing resistance to insecticides. The Colorado potato beetle is one of those potato pests that has a long history of developing resistance to just about any new class of insecticides thrown at it.
And that's not the only insect pest with a propensity to develop resistance.
To help potato growers and their consultants manage new insecticides and prolong their usefulness, Focus on Potato has launched a new educational webinar titled, "Rotating New Chemistries in Potato Pest Management."
Russ Groves, an Extension vegetable entomology specialist and associate professor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, will walk viewers through the session, according to a news release.
The 30-minute presentation is free and will be accessible through Oct. 31.
Focus on Potato is one of many efforts spearheaded by the nonprofit Plant Management Network to develop science-based resources for growers, educators and crop-management professionals.
The network is a collaborative effort among the American Phytopathological Society, American Society of Agronomy and Crop Science Society of America.
