The New Jersey Peach Promotion Council has ramped up its social media marketing presence.

The council updated its logo, revamped its website and is focusing on Facebook and Twitter messages. Now, all of the member growers are listed on the website.

“We’re a small state that nonetheless ranks fourth in peach production in the country,” Santo John Maccherone, chairman of the council, said in a news release. “But we’re in a short-season, competitive business, and we need to stay in the forefront of retailers and consumers’ minds. Social media is a very important means of quick communication in today’s market.

“Our new look and integrated online presence makes New Jersey-grown peaches easy to identify and ask for,” Maccherone said in the release. “Of course, our Peach Buyers Guide remains a strong printed source of information, and is available on request to the Peach Promotion Council.”

This year’s season, starting in early July, will bring a lot of special peach events.

“This will be our fifth season celebrating Jersey Fresh peaches with special peach events throughout the state designed to generate excitement and demand for our peaches ... ” Maccherone said in the release. “We hope peach lovers will find the sites user-friendly.”
