Every year, and its sister publication, The Packer, recognize a potato industry leader, and we need your help.

Take a few minutes to think about who in the potato industry has made a difference either this past year or during their lifetime and nominate them for a Potato Industry Award.

The Potato Man of the Year award recognizes somebody who has gone above and beyond the call of duty during 2013. It could be in visiting Washington, D.C., to educate lawmakers about the needs of the industry. Or they could have traveled around the country or the world promoting the virtues of potatoes.

Past winners have included Justin Dagen and Chris Voigt.

The Potato Man for All Seasons award recognizes someone who has devoted his or her lifetime to bettering the potato industry.

Ben Kudwa, former executive director of the Michigan Potato Industry Commission, received the honor in January.

The award is presented in conjunction with the National Potato Council.

The deadline to submit nominations is Dec. 1. The award will be presented at the NPC's annual awards banquet, Jan. 10, in San Antonio.
