Grand Junction, Mich.-based MBG had a grand opening July 16 at the Alma, Ga., facility, which handles both fresh and processed blueberries, according to a news release from Salinas, Calif.-based Naturipe Farms LLC.
MBG is one of four partners in Naturipe.
The Georgia facility features a fresh blueberry distribution center with capacity to handle more than 10 million pounds of product during the Southeast growing season.
The facility also includes a 73,000-square-foot Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) processing and packing plant. It’s the second such facility for MBG. The company opened its first in 2013 in Bloomingdale, Mich.
MBG has operated in Georgia since 1983.
The grand opening ceremony July 16 drew more than 250 people, among them growers, business and community leaders and local and state dignitaries including Peggy Murphy, Alma’s mayor, and Chad Nimmer, a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
