FFVA, Syngenta award scholarship to UF ag student

Kyle Helseth, a senior in the University of Florida's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, received the Florida Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association's educational scholarship.

The $5,000 award was presented at FFVA's recent annual meeting in Naples in conjunction with Syngenta Crop Protection, Syngenta Seedcare and Syngenta Seeds Rogers Brand, according to a news release.

Helseth is pursuing a degree in food and resource economics, marketing and management specialization.

In the past, he interned at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service and at Rolland Ranch in Yeehaw Junction.

Helseth also has used geographic information system mapping software and scouted citrus groves.

This is the sixth year that Syngenta has sponsored the scholarship.
