Sens. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., have introduced a bill that would transfer agricultural inspections back to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service from the Department of Homeland Security, according to AgAlert, a publication of the California Farm Bureau Federation.

Similar legislation has been introduced in the House. Government reports indicate a major drop in agricultural inspections at U.S. ports of entry.
