Wyoming shows off ways to boost farming efficiency

Determining proper irrigation rates is not rocket science, but the practice does take some of its ingredients from the space program.

University of Wyoming researchers recently demonstrated how neutron probes can measure soil moisture, a key element in proper irrigation.

They also showed off hoop houses that allow growers to plant earlier and extend the season later than open-field cultivation.
