The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Risk Management Agency has made changes to the apple, cherry and stone fruit Federal Crop Insurance Corp. multi-peril crop insurance program for 2011.
For the first time in the Pacific Northwest, coverage is available for fresh plums/prunes under the new Stonefruit MPCI Provisions, according to a news release.
Pluots are covered under the plum provisions.
The new coverage is available in:
• Idaho: Canyon, Gem, Payette and Washington counties;
• Oregon: Douglas, Polk, Umatilla, Washington and Yamhill counties; and
• Washington: Benton, Okanogan, Walla Walla and Yakima counties.
Apple MPCI and Actual Revenue History (ARH) Cherry Pilot Provisions also were modified for the 2011 crop year.
Deadline to apply is Nov. 22.
