Pepsico, the parent company of snack food maker Frito-Lay, has unveiled its i-crop precision farming technology to United Kingdom growers.
The goal is to reduce carbon emissions and water use by 50 percent during the next five years.
The technology will be rolled out in Europe this coming year and in India, China, Mexico and Australia in 2012.
It was developed in conjunction with Cambridge University.
The Atlantic Journal-Constitution reports the program also will be implemented in the United States.
