New seedless mandarin ready to hit store shelves

California citrus growers are excited about a new seed mandarin—Tango—that is self-pollinating and doesn't require bees.

Even if bees do happen to land on the flowers with pollen form other varieties, the fruit will probably remain seedless because the trees are sterile.

The variety was developed by the University of California, Riverside.

Six Florida nurseries already are propagating Tango plant material.
