Pome fruit pest book undergoes update

Apple and Pear Diseases and PestsCourtesy American Phytopathological SocietyThe American Phytopathological Society, St. Paul, Minn., has published a book titled, "Compendium of Apple and Pear Diseases and Pests, Second Edition."

Nearly double the size of the previous edition, the most recent version includes 343 color images, according to a news release.

New is a section that covers insects and mites that alone features 90 species and 160 color images.

The original disease chapters, published in 1990, have been revised. In addition, 11 chapters have been added.

The book is organized to make it easy to use.

Just match the symptoms and pests to the book's color photographs. Corresponding text describes related symptoms, causes, cycles and control measures.
