New guide links Ohio farmers and foodservice buyers
Ohio State University has published a new on-line book to help link farmers and foodservice buyers.
Titled "Ohio's Specialty Crops: A Boost to Food Service Menus," the book is available free at http://go.osu.edu/HSa.
The book's author, Megan Shoenfelt of the university's Agroecosystems Management Program, says many institutions want to serve local produce but don't know where to source it, according to a news release.
Meanwhile, farmers need to know the quality factors that food-service buyers want.
Included in the sections are:
• Making connections.
• Local food success stories.
• Food safety, including good agricultural practices.
• Monthly availability of four dozen crops.
Print copies are available in bulk for groups by contacting Shoenfelt at (330) 202-3537 or shoenfelt.9@osu.edu.
