Medflies found in south Florida

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reports that two Mediterranean fruit flies were picked up during routine trapping in a residential area of Pompano Beach.

The department plans to hang 2,000 additional traps in a 50-square-mile area aroudn the finds to determine the extent of the infestation.
