Hail tears into New York apple crop

A major hailstorm should put a significant dent in New York's apple crop, though official damage estimates have not been made.

Hail on June 17 hit many apple-growing regions of New York, the nation's second-biggest apple-producing state, says Jim Allen, president of the Fishers-based New York Apple Association.
