Florida Gov. Rick Scott is considering merging several state agencies, including the Department of Citrus, into one large entity that would handle all or most of the state's marketing programs.
Earlier, he had considered merging the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services with the Department of Citrus.
The DOC, which is supported mostly by citrus grower box taxes, was created in 1935 to market the state's citrus products.
