Extensionists predict Michigan apple harvest dates

Every year, fruit experts at Michigan State University in Lansing provide growers in their state with estimated harvest dates so they can better manage the harvest.

This year is no exception.

The fruit educators have prepared estimates for McIntosh, Jonathan and red delicious. Harvest dates for other varieties are based on comparisons, according to a news release.

The estimates are based on the the Enviro-weather apple maturity predictor, which uses the same computation method used by MSU apple Extension educator Phil Schwallier over the years.
