Philadelphia-based FMC Corp. has received an exclusive license to develop, register, manufacture and sell the fungicide valifenalate in mixtures in North America, Latin America and a few other countries.
The product is owned by Belchim Crop Protection, Londerzeel, Belgium, which granted the license, according to a news release.
Belchim had acquired the compound from a joint venture between Isagro SpA and Chemtura Netherlands B.V. in April.
Elsewhere, the fungicide is approved for use on several specialty crops, including grapes, tomatoes, potatoes and other vegetables, to control oomycetes fungi, such as Phytophthora.
It belongs to the dipeptide class and is marketed mainly under the brand name Valis.
FMC plans to offer it for sale in Latin America immediately and in other regions thereafter.
