DuPont logoThe Environmental Protection Agency has registered Verimark and Exirel, two insecticides from Wilmington, Del.-based DuPont Crop Protection that contain the same active ingredient.

State registrations are pending.

Both products contain Cyazypyr, the brand name for cyantraniliprole.

It targets sucking and chewing pests, including thrips, whiteflies, leafminers and psyllids, according to a news release.

Verimark is designed for soil application whereas Exirel is for foliar application.

These two newcomers belong to the same chemical class as Altacor, Coragen and Prevathon, all of which contain Rynaxypyr. The latter three control lepidopteran pests, or those belonging to the order of butterflies and moths.
