California's proposed cap-and-trade greenhouse gas rule could affect processors

The California Air Resources Board has proposed an ambitious cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emissions—the first of its type in the nation.

Although growers will be exempt from the regulations, food processors—including almond handlers—will not. Among the items that could be affected are gas driers used in fruit dehydration and nut drying.
