Advance registration is required for the last in a series of food safety workshops sponsored by Western Growers and scheduled for March 19.

The four-hour event is open only to Western Growers members and is free. The seminar is set for 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Imperial Valley Vegetable Growers Association, El Centro, Calif.

The agenda includes discussion of requirements in the Food Safety Modernization Act. Presenters are also scheduled to cover how to prepare an adequate food safety program and how to conduct food safety recalls, according to a news release from Western Growers.

"Prevent, Prepare, Protect: Managing Your Food Safety Risks and Opportunities" will also include tips on what to do if Food and Drug Administration officials visit unexpectedly, as well as presentations about the differences between recall and liability insurance.
