Walnut Creek, Calif,-based Valent U.S.A. Corp. will manage U.S. marketing and sales of Pace International's line of preharvest products after its sister company, Valent BioSciences Corp., acquired Pace in December 2012.
All three are owned by Sumitomo Chemical Corp., Tokyo, Japan.
Under the agreement, Seattle-based Pace will continue to support the products outside the United States and will manage global sales for its post-harvest products, according to a news release.
The preharvest line includes Raynox, a sunburn-control product based on carnuba wax and clay; Raynox Organic, an organic formulation; and RainGard, a proprietary mixture of fatty acids and vegetable esters that inhibits a fruit's ability to absorb water after rain.
Used by cherry growers, RainGard can reduce cracking by as much as 50 percent, according to the release.
Pace's former product line will continue to be manufactured at its Wapato, Wash., facility.
