University of Maine Cooperative Extension has launched a new website designed for beginning farmers.

The Beginning Farmer Resource Network, as it is called, is a collaborate online effort among several agricultural service providers, according to a news release.

Viewers are encouraged to send questions, which will be answered on the website.

Initial topics will range from taxes, financing and U.S. Department of Agriculture programs to finding land and balancing farm and family life.

Coordinator Tori Jackson, a UMaine Extension professor of agriculture and natural resources, says there was no real one-stop shopping informational portal for new farmers.
