Tree Top Inc., a grower-owned cooperative based in Selah, Wash., has donated $250,000 to Washington State University's tree-fruit research and Extension programs.
“It is our way of affirming our ongoing support of the industry and its long-term prosperity,” Tree Top chief executive officer Tom Stokes said in a news release.
The donation comes as part of a much larger effort by WSU titled the "Campaign for Washington State University Because the World Needs Big Ideas," according to the release.
The university wants to raise $1 billion.
In a separate move, the tree-fruit industry recently approved a $27 million self-assessment to support the university's tree-fruit programs.
