Traps catch another Medfly in South Florida; quarantine expands

A fifth Mediterranean fruit fly has turned up in traps in Pompano Beach, prompting the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to expand the quarantine area.

The egg-bearing female was found in a loquat tree.

The quarantine now encompasses 71 square miles of northeast Broward County.
