System monitors soil moisture

The Profiler soil moisture sensorsServi-Tech Expanded Premium Services LLC of Dodge City, Kan., has introduced The Profiler, a soil-moisture monitoring system that uses telemetry from AgSense.

The unit contains three soil moisture sensors that monitor soil at depths of 12, 24 and 36 inches, according to a news release.

Data is read every 30 minutes and sent through a telemetry control box via cell modem to the website, http://theprofileronline.com, for viewing.

Users can view the data in one-day to 30-day increments.

The base unit is priced at $1,995 and includes the first year model subscriptioni and Web access.

A solar panel recharges an internal battery, eliminating the need for additional power.

Optional equipment includes a tipping rain bucket and sensors for 6-inch or 48-inch depths.
