Syngenta Crop Protection of Greensboro, N.C., has awarded a $5,000 "almond scholarship" to Jason Colombini of Linden, Calif.

Colombini is a sophomore at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and is pursuing a degree in agricultural business, according to a news release.

He plans to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, who was a commercial almond salesman, with a career in agriculture.

Colombini will be recognized at the Almond Industry Conference, held in Modesto Dec. 6-8.
