Pacific Gas and Electric Co. has donated $450,000 to California State University, Fresno, to help kick off a state-of-the-art demonstration facility highlighting water and energy management technologies for agriculture.
It will be housed on the university’s farm, which encompasses nearly 1,000 acres of vineyards, orchards and row crops as well as a dairy and winery, according to a news release.
The university’s Center for Irrigation Technology will help design, install and monitor the technologies.
The goal is to show farmers a wide variety of full-scale production systems.
Educational seminars are expected to be scheduled this summer.
