ChampION logoChicago-based Nufarm has introduced ChampION, a copper fungicide/bactericide for use on several specialty crops.

Among the diseases on the label are citrus canker, walnut blight, powdery and downy mildew in grapes, and bacterial spot and bacterial speck in tomatoes and peppers.

The product also involves a new dry formulation—dispersible granules—that features smaller particles and better dispersion in water when mixing, according to a news release.

The smaller particles improve leaf coverage, resulting in more copper ions being absorbed into the plant tissue.

The smaller particle size also means growers can use a lower rate of copper for effective disease control and reducing the amount into the environment.
