Nominations sought for Florida AG-Vocate Award

Florida Ag Institute logoThe Ag Institute of Florida is seeking nominations for its AG-Vocate Award, which recognizes an outstanding spokesperson for the Florida agriculture industry during the past year.

The honor is presented annually to someone who has made a positive contribution to the industry by sharing information and ideas with lawmakers or the public to improve the perception of agriculture, according to a news release.

Past winners include Mac Carraway of SMR Farms, Joe Wright of V&W Farms, Bob Spencer of West Coast Tomato and Keith Truenow of Lake Jem Farms.

The deadline is Sept. 6, and nomination forms are available at the institute's website,

The award will be presented at the institute's annual meeting in October.

The institute comprises communications professionals, individual growers, grower groups and ag-related business.

Its mission is to encourage, educate and empower individuals and organizations to communicate more effectively on behalf of Florida agriculture.
