This year, the scholarship is $10,000, up from $5,000 previously, according to a news release.
The increase reflects the growing cost of college.
To be eligible, applicants must be studying in a field that will improve the future of the potato industry.
Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership abilities and potential commercial value of the applicant's academic work.
