More Medflies in Pompano Beach prompt expanded quarantine

Traps have picked up two additional Mediterranean fruit flies—including a mated female—in Pompano Beach, Fla., prompting the state to begin stripping host trees of fruit and spraying insecticides.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services also has expanded the quarantine area to 63 square miles.
