Grandevo logoDavis, Calif.-based Marrone Bio Innovations Inc. has begun producing biological insecticides at its Bangor, Mich., plant.

This is the company's first production of a fermented product at this location since Marrone acquired the plant in July 2012 and renovated it.

The first production involves Grandevo, a biological derived from a common bacterium, Achromacil, according to a news release.

It works be repelling insects, through oral toxicity, reducing egg hatch and reducing ability of the pests to reproduce.

Future production will involve Regalia, a biological fungicide, as well as installing larger fermentation tanks.
