Harris Moran boosts seed availability of new cantaloupe

Origami cantaloupeCourtesy Harris MoranModesto, Calif.-based Harris Moran has increased the seed availability of Origami, an early-season Western cantaloupe with high yields and great flavor.

The hybrid was introduced on a limited basis last year, according to a news release.

The melon is harvested beginning in May in the California and Arizona desert regions.

It combines wide adaptability to growing conditions with long shelf life, according to the release.

Vines produce large to extra large oval-round fruit of 6's and 9's.

Origami, trialed as HMX 0583, has strong resistant to Fusarium wilt races 0, 1 and 2 as well as intermediate resistance to powdery mildew races 1 and 2.
