Groundnut ringspot virus spreads in Florida tomatoes

Since the first diagnosis in Miami-Dade County, growdnut ringspot virus has been identified in commercial tomato fields in Collier, hendry, leem, Manatee, Martin and Palm Beach counties.

It is a topovirus, which is the same group to which tomato spotted wilt virus belongs.

And like tomato spotted wilt virus, groundnut ringspot virus can lead to unmarketable fruit or plant death.
