As senior vice president of market development, Young will assist with introducing the product.
Young began his career with Syngenta Crop Protection, Wilmington, Del., where he held a variety of research and development positions for 26 years involving plant disease control on various fruit, vegetable and ornamental crops.
Young recently retired from Del Monte Fresh Produce, Coral Gables, Fla., where he headed the research and development and agricultural services department for 13 years. At Del Monte his responsibilities included food safety, quality assurance, research into new varieties and growing practices, sustainability and packaging.
The new product, FruitGard, kills foodborne pathogens and reduces postharvest decay, according to a news release.
