Florida to honor four ag hall of fame inductees

Four Florida agricultural leaders will be honored at the 34th annual Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame banquet, Feb, 12, at the Florida State Fairgrounds Special Events Center in Tampa.

The four are Daniel Botts, Charles H. Bronson, Paul Nicoletti and Eugene Trotter.

• Botts has worked for the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association for nearly 30 years as an advocate for the state's agricultural industry. His areas of expertise are pesticide use and regulation.

• Bronson is a fifth-generation cattle rancher and served as the state's 10th agriculture commissioner from 2001-10.

• Nicoletti is a veterinarian and epidemiologist who worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine. He improved procedures used to control bovine brucellosis or Bang's disease.

• Trotter was a professor and founder of the Wedgworth Leadership institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Florida.

These four join 140 previous honorees.

Tickets are $60 per person, and tables of eight are available.
