The Florida Citrus Hall of Fame, based at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, is seeking nominations for inductees.

The induction ceremony, which also will be part of the hall of fame’s weeklong 50th anniversary celebration, will be held March 2, 2012, according to a news release.

Nominees should be someone who has made a significant contribution to the Florida citrus industry in one of the following fields: pioneers, harvesting, packing, processing, marketing, scientific and/or education.

Last year's inductees were R. William "Bill" Becker of Vero Beach; Edgar S. Beeland (deceased), formerly of Winter Haven; Robert C. "Bob" Bullock, of Ft. Pierce; and Frank W. Savage (deceased), formerly of Eustis.

Deadline for nominations is Dec. 1, and all nominations must include a photo.

The hall of fame began in Winter Haven in 1962 with 17 members and now has 164, says Brenda Eubanks Burnette, hall of fame executive director.

Nomination forms are available by contacting Burnette at (561) 351-4314 or by visiting the Florida Citrus Hall of Fame website at http://www.FloridaCitrusHallofFame.com.
