The American Farm Bureau Federation honored Rep. Bob Goodlatte with the Golden Plow award for his support of farmers and ranchers.

Honorees are chosen, regardless of party affiliation, for distinguished agricultural leadership, support of Farm Bureau policies and a commitment to the private enterprise system and reduced regulations on businesses and individuals, according to a news release.

Goodlatte was nominated by the Virginia Farm Bureau. He is the representative for Virginia’s 6th Congressional District.

The award was presented at an April 13 event in Harrisonburg, Va., by Bob Stallman, president of the American Farm Bureau, and Wayne Pryor, president of the Virginia Farm Bureau.

“Congressman Goodlatte is a vigorous defender of private property rights, both real and intellectual, and he continues to lead the fight against regulatory overreach,” Bob Stallman, president, said in the release.
