FMC logoPhiladelphia-based FMC Corp. has finalized two agreements it says should strengthen its biological portfolio, according to a news release.

FMC has signed an agreement with Chr. Hansen, Hørsholm, Denmark, to develop and commercial biological crop protection products. Hansen specializes in cultures, enzymes and fermentation.

Under the agreement, Chr. Hansen will provide scouting, screening, scale up and fermentation manufacturing expertise. FMC will provide scouting, screening, formulation capabilities, product development and registration experience, and global market access.

FMC also has acquired the Center for Agricultural and Environmental Biosolutions, a division of Research Triangle Park, N.C.-based RTI International. The center specializes in sustainable agriculture research.

The acquisition gives FMC access to intellectual property as well as capabilities of scouting and screening for new technologies. The center focuses on endophytic microbes—those living within plants—and plant-host interactions.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Fennebresque & Co. acted as the exclusive financial adviser to RTI in this deal. Terms were not disclosed.
