EPA registers new fungicide premix

zampro fungicideThe Environmental Protection Agency has registered Zampro, a premix fungicide from BASF Corp. of Research Triangle Park, N.C.

The fungicide is effective against oomycete fungi, including Phytophthora blight and downy mildew, according to a news release.

It is labeled for use on cucurbits, leaf vegetables, grapes, fruiting and bulb vegetables, potatoes and hops.

The product works best as a preventive application, according to the release.

Zampro contains ametoctradin, a new mode of action, and dimethomorph, which used to be marketed under the brand name Forum.

Ametoctradin belongs to the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee's Group 45, whereas dimethomorph belongs to  40.

State registrations are pending.
