The Environmental Protection Agency recently approved a label change for Micromite 80WGS from Chemtura AgroSolutions that allows split applications of two 3.125 ounces per acre. The full rate is 6.25 ounces per acre.

The split application is intended to help citrus growers time applications with tree flushes and boost citrus leafminer and Asian citrus psyllid control, according to a news release.

The label change does not apply to ultra-low-volume applications.

The original label allowed total applications of 18.75 ounces per acre per year, but each could only be applied at a rate of 6.25 ounces per acre. That limited growers to a total of three applications annually.

Under the new label, growers can make up to six applications per year, but there must be at least 90 days between each 6.25 ounces.

For example, a grower could make a 3.125-ounce application and return again in two weeks for another 3.125-ounce application.

Then he or she would have to wait 90 days before another Micromite application could be made.
