EPA, Florida OK citrus black spot treatment

citrus black spotVicky BoydThe Environmental Protection Agency has granted a 2(ee) for Enable 2F fungicide to control black spot on citrus.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services also has approved the expanded label for the product, according to a news release.

The fungicide from Dow AgroSciences already was registered for use on citrus to control greasy spot, scab and sooty mold, according to the label.

The 2(ee) recommendation will now allow use of the fenbuconazole-based fungicide for black spot.

Fenbuconazole belongs to the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee’s Group 3.

Black spot ;causes unsightly black blemishes on fruit. Although harmless to humans, the fungus renders citrus unmarketable for the fresh sector.
