Citrus Hall of Fame seeks nominations for inductees

Florida Citrus Hall of FameThe Florida Citrus Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for inductees who have made a difference in the state's citrus industry.

They could have made significant contributions as pioneers or in the fields of harvesting, packing, processing, marketing, science and/or education, according to a news release.

Last year's inductees were Homer E. Hooks of Lakeland and J. Brantley Schirard of Fort Pierce. Three others were inducted posthumously: Col. Francis L. Dancy, Dr. paul L. Harding and Dr. Mathew V. Veldhuis.

Deadline for nominations is Nov. 1.

Inductees will be honored at a luncheon March 7, 2014, at Florida Southern College in Lakeland.

The lunch is co-sponsored by Florida Citrus Mutual and the Florida Department of Citrus.
