California WalnutsCalifornia walnut growers have overwhelmingly voted to continue their marketing order, with 95% of eligible growers in favor of keeping the program.

This is the first continuation referendum vote ever by the industry.

Voting was from April 1 to April 19. For the referendum to pass, at least two-thirds of eligible producers had to vote in favor of continuance. Since the Federal Marketing Order was amended in 2008, a vote is required every six years.

Growers who produced walnuts in the state from September 1, 2012 to August 31, 2013 were eligible to vote.
