Midas soil fumigant from Arysta LifeScience Corp., Cary, N.C., is no longer registered for use in Cailfornia, effective March 21.
The California Department of Pesticide Regulation accepted Arysta's request for a voluntary cancellation of all products that contain the active ingredient methyl iodide, said Lea Brooks, department spokeswoman.
Methyl iodide, also known as iodemethane, is the active ingredient in Midas.
California registered Midas in December 2010 as a restricted-use material.
Since then, there have been six commercial applications on a total of 15 acres.
