Calavo Growers Inc., Santa Paula, Calif., has selected the HarvestMark traceability system from YottaMark Inc., in Redwood City, Calif.

Calavo will use the software in all locations across the U.S. and Mexico, starting at the Santa Paula packing facility, according to a news release.

There, the program will be installed on packing lines that produce up to 3,100 boxes of avocados each hour. The system is able to scan boxes and understand markings in order to add traceability labels without slowing the line.

“Each year we pack approximately 30% of the California avocado crop,” Mike Browne, vice president of fresh operations at Calavo, said in the release. “We chose HarvestMark because their solution has the flexibility to accommodate the varied packing styles across our operation, demonstrated a solid return on investment and has earned a reputation for reliability.”
