The Center for Produce Safety will have its third annual produce research symposium June 27 in Davis, Calif.

Open to professionals across the produce supply chain, the event features presentations by the institute’s scientists and discussions of how companies can apply new research findings.

Registration and symposium details will be posted March 15 at the Center’s website, according to a news release. Information will also be available by telephone at 530-757-5777 or by email at info@cps.ucdavis.edu.

Last year’s symposium featured 16 center-funded projects from eight institutions; 22 research posters updating various projects; and five posters about Food and Drug Administration food safety research projects.

Abstracts were posted at the website, as were key findings about the research from Bob Whitaker, the Center’s technical committee chairman and chief science and technology officer for the Produce Marketing Association.

Symposium sponsors include PMA, SmartWash Solutions, Ecolab and the Northwest Horticultural Council.

The Center was founded in 2007 with support from donors including the PMA, Taylor Farms, the California Department of Food and Agriculture, Western Growers, the California Farm Bureau and the University of California.
