Bland Farms has named David Beecher to succeed Michael Hively as director of operations.

With 18 years in produce operations and logistics, Beecher’s role is to oversee all of the onion company’s operations, including Bland Distribution Services in Donna, Texas.

BeecherBeecher worked four years as vice president of operations and logistics for Minneapolis-based C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc.-owned Rosemont Farms Corp., Boca Raton, Fla., and for 14 years with IFCO Systems North America Inc., Tampa, Fla., where he advanced to vice president of operations.

Bland Farms president Delbert Bland, said Beecher possesses a solid accounting background and should manage people well.

“David is a very experienced guy, the type of guy we need in operations,” Bland said. “He comes with a very good reputation. He is a very professional type of guy who will do a lot for us.”

Hively, who joined the Glennville, Ga.-based Bland Farms LLC in June 2002, left his position Nov. 14 under amicable conditions, according to Hively and Bland officials. The Vidalia onion company announced Beecher’s hiring on Nov. 22.

In a news release, Beecher said he looks forward to working with the year-round sweet onion shipper.

“Everyone at Bland Farms is motivated and loyal to Delbert and the team,” Beecher said in the release. “I’m looking forward to growing the team and working at making a great company even better.”

Beecher is scheduled to begin working for Bland Nov. 28.
